Wrap Me in Your Arms

Released November 12th, 2023

I thought that it would be fun to show you guys how “Wrap Me In Your Arms”  was created. I had gone through a pretty difficult loss around the time and was feeling pretty isolated. I needed someone to understand and quite frankly I just wanted a hug, but I didn’t know how to ask. So instead I sat on my floor and I cried out to God the starting lyrics, “Wrap me in your arms.” The chorus pretty quickly took form, although at the time, I didn’t realize it would be the chorus.

A few days later I decided to play around with the Beatle’s chord progressions we had learned about in Songwriting. This is when I realized my words from the previous night could become a song and so I continued with a verse and chord progression.

At the time the verse and chorus chords/melody were pretty close to the same and so after writing the rough draft of the entire song, I had to go back and change the chorus melodically. I wanted something that felt beautiful; like it was soaring and not completely grounded.

There were a lot of revisions on the lyrics until they told what I felt was a strong story of loss, denial, and acceptance.

The other aspects of the song were transformed by my amazing producer Zach Cook and arranger Jonathan Arensman . As always, they never cease to amaze me, and I am so grateful for them listening to and expanding on all of my crazy ideas.

I am so grateful that I not only got to create this song, but now I get to share it with you all!
